Lone worker guides

Practical steps for managers who need check-ins, alerts, and records — without enterprise software theatre.

Start with the people, not the product

Map who works alone, how long typical visits last, and who should hear first if something is missed. That clarity matters more than any feature list. Then set TapOkie Work up in minutes: add workers by name and email, invite managers, and decide your backup contact.

A practical one-hour setup walkthrough

TapOkie Work is designed so you can go from signup to live monitoring in under an hour. Here is how to do it this week, not next quarter.

Step one takes five minutes. Create your account at dashboard.tapokie.com, enter your organisation name, set your timezone, and choose your default session timer. Sixty minutes is a sensible starting point for most visit-based teams.

Step two is adding your workers. Go to the Workers page and add each person by name and email. They automatically receive login details. No app store confusion, no invite links to chase. If you have more than ten workers, bulk CSV import is on the same page.

Step three is setting your escalation chain. Under Settings, choose who receives missed check-out and SOS alerts. Then add a backup: the person notified if the first manager does not respond within your chosen window. Most managers skip this step. Do not skip it.

Step four is a test run. Have one worker log in to the TapOkie Work app and start a session. Watch it appear on your dashboard. Let it expire without ending it, and confirm you receive the alert. This takes ten minutes and confirms everything is working before your team relies on it.

After that, you are live. Workers check in at the start of each lone visit and check out when done. You are notified if something is missed. The history exports when you need it.

A simple rollout path

1

Map lone work

List roles and visits where someone is alone on site, in transit, or after hours.

2

Pick a rhythm

Match check-in / check-out to visit length. Warn before you alarm so false alerts stay rare.

3

Prove it later

Keep exportable history so insurers, clients, or inspectors can see what happened.

Your team is out there right now. Know they're safe.
